Primila Edward

Primila has been a consultant for the last 10 years after being an In-house Counsel for most of her career. She set up her own consultancy for the oil and gas, maritime and construction industries. She gained her tertiary education in England with a Bachelor Laws (LL.B (Hons) degree from the University of Hull, UK in 1978 and has subsequently gained her post graduate qualifications from Harvard Law School, USA ( 2017) in Negotiation and Leadership and from Pepperdine University, Los Angeles, USA ( 2013) in Mediation and Alternative Dispute Resolution. She also has a Diploma in International Investment Disputes granted by UNCTAD and the Attorney General’s Chambers of Malaysia. She is a distinguished recipient of the prestigious Weinstein JAMS International Fellowship Award for Mediation, USA (2013), and was awarded in 2011 the accolade of Shipping Lawyer of the Year (Malaysia) by Corporate International Magazine, UK. Primila is also a Senior Fellow of the Weinstein International Foundation and a trained mediator for corporate, oil and gas and maritime disputes.

She has authored the chapter on Malaysia in the UK publication “Getting The Deal Through”- Shipping 2011-2014 and Shipbuilding 2012-2014, she was the Oil and Gas Industry Columnist for Malaysia Business, Senior Writer for Oil and Gas Asia Business Review.

She has gained over 35 years worldwide experience in Contracts and Dispute Management in the Oil and Gas and Maritime and Construction Industries. She has valuable hands-on experience and has consulted and advised in contracts, contract negotiation, drafting, risk management and claims and dispute management. She had handled high value multi-million-dollar projects. Many of these projects have been international and cross-border involving multiple parties from across the globe. Risks management is one of her fortes and has consulted on all aspects of legal and contractual risks using good contracting methods and strategies. Her consultancy has a global reach and has clients from Korea, Vietnam, Indonesia, Oman, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and other countries.

Her clients include among others, Oil Companies, Operators, NOCs from around the world like Saudi Aramco, Petronas, Pertamina, PetroVietnam, ENI, BP and listed companies, Bumi Armada Berhad, UMW Holding Berhad, Western Digital, Sumatec Berhad, MMHE and Korean companies Postech and Daewoo Shipyard.
